Lodoga homeowner holds suspected burglar at gunpoint

Law enforcement officials said on Friday that homeowner in rural Colusa County interrupted a burglary in progress at his home, and held the suspected burglars at gunpoint until a Colusa County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the scene.

According to a press release from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to the 4300-block of Sites-Lodoga Road for a burglary in progress, and was advised that shots had been fired and a female suspect had fled the scene. A deputy arrived on scene to find the homeowner holding a male suspect, later identified as Joshua Allan Jorgensen Villanueva, 45, of Redwood City, at gunpoint. The female suspect, identified as Victoria Elizabeth Edlin, 28, of Kennesaw, Georgia, was located in an orchard a few hundred yards southeast of the residence by Sheriff’s Office personnel, with the help of the California Highway Patrol.

In their investigation, the Sheriff’s Office learned that the homeowner had been gone for two days. Upon his return on, the homeowner noticed his motorcycle parked outside of the garage and noises coming from inside the residence. After asking a neighbor to contact law enforcement, the homeowner saw the male and female suspects walk out from the back of the residence, carrying some of his property and his motorcycle keys.

“The homeowner, using a legal, registered handgun, confronted the suspects,” the department said in the statement.

While the female suspect fled on foot, the male suspect approached the homeowner, who fired two warning shots, prompting the him to get on the ground – where the homeowner held him at gunpoint until Sheriff’s Office personnel arrived.

The sheriff’s office indicated that there were no injuries to any parties.

Villanueva and Edlin were booked into the Colusa County Jail on suspicion of vandalism, burglary, and vehicle theft, with their bails set at $80,000. Both Villanueva and Edlin are also being held on two Solono County warrants for their arrests.

Officials said that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is being asked to contact the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 458-0200.
