Tibetan monks to visit during Virginia Read


As part of the year-long celebration of The Book of Joy by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Douglas Abrams, the Virginia Yerxa Community Read will host Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery of southern India for three activities at the Colusa County Free Library in March.

■ Tuesday, March 27 – 7 p.m., Morse Conference room. Slide show presentation about the monastery, followed by Q and A.
■ Wednesday, March 28 – 3 to 4:30 p.m., main library room. Sand mandala and calligraphy activities geared to families and children.
■ Wednesday, March 28 – 7 p.m., Morse Conference room. “World Peace and Unity of All Religions” lecture/presentation.

The monks will also be available Thursday morning for individuals who would like to schedule a healing ritual or personal blessing. Arrangements can be made through Lobsang Wangchuk, (562) 225-3072.
