“The current system we have is almost 80-years old,” said Colusa Cemetery District Manager Daniell Frampton. “It’s not efficient and is costing us more in repairs each year.”
With the replacement to cost an estimated $320,000, the district is seeking grants and other means to fund the project.
“We had some money set aside in our budget, but it’s not enough,” said Frampton. “We are looking at a few grants, but we’re having little success.”
Frampton and the Colusa Cemetery District are seeking the help of the community.
“As the District Manager for the Cemetery, I strive to make the Cemetery the most peaceful and beautiful place for the final resting place for many beautiful souls,” said Frampton. Our community is lovely, and comes together when in the need and we are asking the community to help raise funds to complete the sprinkler system.”
Frampton said donations, in any amount, can be made to the Colusa Cemetery District.
“We are currently looking for a way to recognize our donors,” said Frampton. “We will have something that will recognize those who made contributions to the project.”
If you haven’t visited the Colusa Cemetery lately, Frampton said much work has been completed to the grounds.
“Please come take a drive through the cemetery, enjoy the birds, and the view of the Buttes,” said Frampton. “We’ve installed a Niche, widened roads through the cemetery, and will soon be installing a flower box around the front sign for visitors to pick flowers for their loved ones grave site.”
Frampton added that a large boulder has been installed and will be dedicated during Veterans Day, and the cemetery will be adding parking.
“We will be expanding our side field for overflow parking during memorial services,” said Frampton. “Many great projects are happening at the cemetery.”
If you would like to help the Colusa Cemetery District, visit their office at 1974 Wilson Ave in Colusa. Tax deductible donations can be sent to the same address, said Frampton.
