Southern gospel artist J.P. Thomas will perform in concert at the Maxwell Baptist Church this coming Sunday.

Thomas has recorded many albums and CDs, and gives concerts throughout the United States. He is originally from Nashville, Tenn.

Thomas has performed at the Maxwell Baptist Church the first Sunday in December for several years. The concert will be held at 10:30 AM, Dec. 2, at the Maxwell Baptist Church, located at 177 California St.

“It has become a tradition we all look forward to each year,” said Rev. Malcolm White. “J.P. usually has a mixture of traditional Gospel and Christmas music.”

There is no charge to attend the concert, although contributions to Thomas ministry will be accepted. Thomas will also have several CDs of his music available for purchase, following his performance.

“This family friendly event is open to all, and we encourage you to bring your friends,” White said. “We have a special service for children during part of the concert.”

The annual Christmas dinner will follow the service. All are welcome, White said. ■
