Robert Clayton Beacham ,96, of Colusa, California, passed away peacefully at his home on January 3, 2018. He was born December 8, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa to Marion and Cecil Beacham. He moved to Colusa with his wife Patricia in 1987.
Bob was a design engineer for 40 years retiring as Manager of Engineering Development at Clorox Technical Center. He held many patents for products he designed. He enjoyed woodworking, sports and his beloved trumpet. He was an intellectual who studied many, many subjects deeply. His book collection was extensive and he relished discussion. He loved poetry, sharing it with his poetry group and loved ones. He bowled in the Senior League for years and after retiring from bowling continued to participate socially every week.
Bob founded The Colusa Graffiti Abatement Committee which he facilitated methodically for many years. He rode his bike through town daily on the lookout for areas that needed attention. Bob also founded and served on The Colusans for Youth Committee where he dedicated his time to promoting the well-being of Colusa youth. He was project facilitator for a proposed Junior City Council.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia, sons: Robert C. Beacham, Jr., Michael Beacham, Raymond Wiles and David Wiles, daughters: Cheri Ysunza, Linda Russell, Teresa Ysunza, Marianne Beacham and Joy Wiles, sister Marjorie Cannon, sister in laws: Ardie Blades and Jeanne Blades, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons Dennis Beacham and Mark Beacham and his first wife Virginia. He was endeared to many neighbors and friends.
One of Bob’s favorite sayings that he often shared was: “Friendship is holding hands no matter how far you must reach.” He will be forever remembered and missed.
