Meredith Anne Peterson Putman (1949-2018)

Meredith Anne Peterson Putman, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, following a battle with cancer.

Meredith was born January 28, 1949 in Woodland, Ca.  She grew up in Arbuckle on the ranch owned by the Peterson family since the early 1900s.  She attended John School and Pierce High School and was active in many school activities and 4H.  In the latter sixties she was crowned as Miss Colusa County and competed in the Miss San Joaquin County Pageant.  She attended college at the University of the Pacific, in Stockton, where she was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Phi Chapter.   She received a degree in art from UOP and later got her teaching credential and a Masters in education. She enjoyed a rewarding career in education as an elementary and special education teacher, followed by several years as an administrator.

Meredith was active in the community as a member of Alpha Sigma Sorority, the Yuba Sutter Regional Arts Council, and was a founding member of the Southland Village Supper Club.  In recent years Meredith was Vice President of the Kappa Alpha Theta Facility Corporation Board for the Phi Chapter at University of the Pacific.  She held that position for 9 years.

Meredith had a passion for, and excelled at, all things creative and artistic, including painting, gardening, and flower arranging. She loved cooking and entertaining with her beloved friends in her gourmet group.  She was passionate about her standard poodles, the “Twoodles”, and her Swedish heritage.

Meredith will be remembered for her beauty, her smile and her talents… primarily her calligraphy.
