Life… as I see it (10/31/2018)

Natural demeanor or special circumstances?

Recently I had to change a hotel reservation. The woman answering the phone literally huffed and sighed into the photo. I was told it was very difficult to change my reservation and that I’d be better off to just cancel it and try again to get the room.

But, being me, I persisted and the dates were changed.

Then I got an email from the hotel confirming the change. They had it wrong and; OH NO , I’d have to call them again.

Now I’m a grown woman so I shouldn’t let the attitude of a voice on the phone cause me anxiety. So, I once again called.

I asked if the woman on the phone was the one I had recently spoken with. She said that she wasn’t. AMEN.

When I explained the situation she couldn’t have been nicer. No problem; they could correct the dates.

I know we shouldn’t judge people by the way they treat us.  We don’t know what is going wrong in that person’s life at the moment we meet up with them.

Regardless; bad day or good day, I think we should at least make the effort to be pleasant.

If we are in a service industry or any other business dealing with the public it is not only our responsibility to me polite, but also our job.

We can take a look at ourselves in our personal lives as well.

I’ve had a few bad days myself lately and I know I haven’t acted as “nice” as I should have.

I find myself just wanting to hide away and feel oh so sorry for myself. It helps to lick your wounds from time to time.

Shame on me.  I’ve got a pretty sweet life going on here. If at times it doesn’t all go my way I need to shape up, accept the situation and let go and let God. The sooner I learn that the better.

That brings me back to my mantra of prayer and action. We all need to let go and let God, but we also need to do our part.

When we let it go it is important to pay attention while we wait for the let God part to kick in.

We are shown what to do. There is what I call that “aha” moment when it all becomes clear.

Years ago when I was struggling with what to do with my life it began to be more and more clear to me that I should write. Each step of the way in this writing career of mine the doors were opened. I was continually in the right place to meet the write people and so it went.

It has been close to 30 years since I walked away from a full-time job and guaranteed paycheck.

Writing led me to places I never thought I go. I’ve met celebrities, politicians and a stream of good and decent people that have blessed my life. I haven’t gotten rich by any means, but I’ve never gone hungry either.

Who knows what was going on with the crabby hotel lady?  I shouldn’t have judged her.

Then again; maybe she was just a crabby hotel lady. Who knows?

For now, I’ll choose to give her the benefit of the doubt. I’m staying at that hotel next week. I can’t wait to see for myself.

Life is good today.
