According to the CHP, the incident occurred about 6:20 PM as the victim, who hasn’t been identified at this time, pending notification, was traveling northbound in a 2010 Chevrolet Colorado on Interstate 5 when for unknown reasons lost control and traveled across the east shoulder and up an embankment and colliding with a concrete barrier wall. After the initial impact, the woman’s vehicle continued in a northern direction and collided with a tree.
The driver, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
The CHP said that the collision is under investigation and neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the cause of the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Williams Area CHP office at (530) 473-2821. ■
