Nearly 200 served at the Maxwell Crab Feed

David Carvalho Jr serves up a a whole crab for the annual 2019 Maxwell Fire Department Crab Feed.

Amidst the hail, wind, and lightning on Saturday, nearly 2000 pounds of cooked crab was served by the Maxwell Fire Department. 

Maxwell Fire Chief, Kenny Cohen, announced Ty Urrutia as the departments 2018 Firefighter of the Year. Urrutia is a life-long resident of Maxwell and has been with the fire department for 11 years.

Auctioneer duo Brian and Travis Moniz took to the podium for the nights 108 auction items. Among those items was a Henry 30-30 rifle auctioned off in honor of fallen firefighter David Wadsworth who spent over 30 years on the Maxwell Fire Department before passing away late last year.

Raffle items included a 2018 Cobata, $100 door prize, Swarovski  Binoculars, and a brand new gun safe loaded with two cases of 12 gauge shotguns shells, a Leopold rangefinder, and  Browning 12-gauge shotgun.

“It was a good turn-out, and it went well,” said Cohen. “I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.” ■
