“I raised around $2,000 for the art program with my senior project photography show. I will be taking a list of supplies needed for the Colusa High School art program and purchasing them with the money raised at the event,” said Telford.
Telford called the show “Photographer Gives Back.”
With works by Telford, his brother Michael Hickel, and two other local artists, buyers and donators had an array of pieces to choose from.
“I am so proud of Cameron’s senior project art show. After two hours, he had brought in over $1,200 in donations. Pictures of bridges, waterfalls, train tracks, and several other scenic photos were displayed for the community to purchase,” said Kelley Hickel.
Every senior at Colusa High School participates in a senior project as part of their graduating requirements. Telford chose his project to fill a need.
“I chose this project because the art program at the high school is underfunded, and I felt that I could help by fundraising,” said Telford.
“I established a liking for photography when I started going on trips with my brother,” he said. “This is one hobby I plan to continue.”
Telford’s photography will remain on display until April 19 at the Colusa County Arts Council. Doors are open from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, Tuesday through Thursday. All proceeds benefit the Colusa High School Art Department. ■
