Over the years, sponsors and community members have made it possible for the group to support the seven county libraries with book purchases, supplies, and providing funding for the summer reading program held in each community.
The Rumiano Cheese in Willows is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will once again provide a grand selection of cheeses to complement the wines from vineyards in El Dorado County, Yolo County, and San Joaquin County.
“Our membership provides amazing desserts and savories to complete the taste treat,” said organizer Cynthia White.
An added treat this year will include the Tap Room beer wagon allowing patrons to taste local handcrafted beers.
The event will be held in cooperation with May Surprise on Saturday, May 4. The wine tasting begins at noon in Will S. Green Park, 901 Parkhill in Colusa.
The other May Surprise events include a Pacific Flyway Quilters luncheon, the Garden Club of Colusa County plant sale, the Colusa County Arts Council artisan fair and the City of Colusa Heritage Commission awards to local people who have helped preserve their private pieces of heritage.
“We have survived wind, rain, and lots of sunshine – but the day has been enjoyed by all,” said White.
The group will once again raffle off an antique card catalog cabinet with its drawers filled with donated bottles of wine. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each and are available at the Book Worm, and from members.
Wine tasting event tickets will be sold in the same manner and at the door on the day of the event. They are $20 per person.
A silent auction of local products and wine related items will also take place during the event, said White.
“Please join us as we celebrate this wonderful county that has affirmed to us that libraries are the spirit of a caring and literate community,” White added. ■
