Chloe Ferraiuolo competed in the Future Business Leader competition, taking a fourth place finish. Jessica Hickel took second place in the Local Chapter Annual Business Report competition, and Kelsea Whiting and Christian Reyna finished second in Broadcast Journalism, all earning spots in the national competition.
Makayla Frias took a sixth place finish in the Introduction to Public Speaking competition, and Renee Wrysinski was awarded an eighth place finish in the Business Communications competition.
“I could not be more proud of the students of Colusa FBLA,” said Colusa FBLA Advisor, Nikole Burg. “They worked tirelessly all year to continue the well-deserved Gold Seal Legacy. Plus, to earn recognition in multiple competitive events at the state level against powerhouse schools that are four to five times our size, is unbelievably inspiring.”
Burg was also awarded the prestigious Northern Section Advisor of the Year award at the state conference.
“I cannot wait to head to nationals with these kids to compete and represent our small town of Colusa and all of California FBLA,” Burg said.
The Colusa FBLA Chapter watched three members pass on their Northern Section Officer positions: Jessica Hickel, public relations; Chloe Ferrioulo, president; and Kelsea Whiting, executive secretary/treasurer. As these members gave their outgoing speech for the 2018-2019 year, three other Colusa members were awarded with Northern Section Officer titles.
Elected positions for the 2019-2020 year went to Renee Wrysinski, secretary/treasurer; Kelsea Whiting, president; and Emily Cerney, executive secretary. Whiting will also become one of the State vice presidents for her elected position as president for sections.
Colusa FBLA also earned a first place finish as a chapter in the Professional Members division. Chapter advisors Sonny Badaluco and Burg will accompany Ferraiuolo, Hickel, Whiting, and Reyna to Texas.■
