County Sports Recap (09/25/2019)

Football

Colusa: On Friday, the varsity team lost a close home game against University Prep by a score of 23-21. They will be headed over to Arbuckle for a game on Sept. 27.

Maxwell: For Friday the varsity team were defeated in an away game against Biggs by a score of 42-14. On Sept. 27, Etna will come to the panther den for a Sept. 27 evening game.

Pierce: At a home game on Friday, the varsity team fell to East Nicolaus by a score of 47-12. The Bears face the RedHawks on their home field on Sept. 27.

Princeton: The Friday game against Loyalton was won by the varsity team by a score of 56-6. The Eagles fly to Greenville for a game on Sept. 27.

Williams: The Yellowjacket varsity team spent their Friday, winning an away game against Willows by a score of 45-29. Their Oct. 11 night will be spent away, battling Mt. Shasta.

Volleyball

Colusa: For Sept. 16, the varsity team won an away game against Quincy by a score of 3-0. Then on Sept. 17, the varsity team won a home game against East Nicolaus by a score of 3-0. The next varsity home game against Pioneer was not as fortunate with a loss on Sept. 19 by a score of 3-1. All Sept. 21, the varsity team played an intense day at the Sutter Battle of the Buttes Tournament with a win against Las Plumas 2-0, a win against Marysville 2-0, a win against Woodland Christian 2-0, a win against Bear River 2-1, a win against Colfax 2-0, only finally succumbing to Lincoln 2-0. A rivalry match against Pierce in Arbuckle will take place on Thursday. 

Maxwell: At a home game on Sept. 17, the varsity team won against Williams by a score of 3-0. The team will face Quincy at a home game on Sept. 26.

Pierce: A varsity win for the varsity team on Sept. 16 at an away game against Woodland Christian with a score of 3-0. For Sept. 17, the varsity team won a home game against Dixon by a score of 3-0. Then the varsity was victorious at an away game against Hamilton, 3-0. On Thursday, the RedHawks will come to Bear Country.

Princeton: Thursday, Sept. 19, the varsity had an away game against Hamilton, scores not available at time of press. The Eagles will have a home game against Loyalton on Thursday.

Williams: A loss on Sept. 17 by the varsity team against Maxwell by a score of 3-0 at an away game was righted on Sept. 19 when the varsity team won a home game against Biggs by a score of 3-1. 

Tennis

Colusa: Thursday, Sept. 19, the varsity team matched up at a home game against Gridley and won by a score of 6-3. The next game will be played against Wheatland on Oct. 3.
