Murder solved at Museum’s year-end finale

Home News Murder solved at Museum’s year-end finale

The Sacramento Valley Museum ended its season on Saturday with a near sold-out Murder Mystery fundraising dinner and a real “who done it.”

“Murder at the Banquet” brought out the museum’s biggest supporters, who come together every year to keep history alive, as well as a few newcomers.

The one-act, three-scene comedy was set at a banquet where members of the International Association of Mystery Solvers were about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, when not one, but two, sleuths were murdered most foul.

The play was directed by Amanda Brown, and the cast included Dixie LaGrande, Dena Lausten, Kaymae Quintana, Bill Donnelly, Sanjit Singh, Teri Sebree, and Scott Sebree. Jayare Sanchinelli played Sheriff Harley Stanton, and Robert Tamayo and Jennifer Blue played indirect descendants of the infamous detectives Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. John Watson.

“This was the final evening for the season,” said Trustee Resa Lyn. “We will open again in March with some new exhibits and maybe some new people.”

The Sacramento Valley Museum operates largely on fundraisers, donations, membership, and bequeathments, with support of the City of Williams, which owns the building.

“We need people to continue to support the museum,” Singh said. “Every little bit helps.”

While the museum is closed for the winter, the historic facility, housed in the old Williams High School, will be available over the winter for special events, such as weddings and private parties.

“It’s one of the prettiest places in Colusa County,” Lyn said.■
