I’m a believer in shopping locally first. You may not find everything you need, but it pays off to give it a try.
We have new gutter guards on our roof. I shopped locally first and found what I needed at a competitive price at Prairie Lumber, here in Beach.
Although they don’t install them, they were installed by store owner Ron Zachman; not as a store service but as a friend service.
Ron and the entire Zachman family for that matter have long been good friends to me and mine.
Friendships and family are at the top of the list in the scheme of things.
Yesterday, we hosted a family reunion at our home here in Beach. It had been about 18 years since all of us had been together, but it felt as if no time had passed.
The food was great and the conversation was endless.
Tom was new to this group, but by days end, he felt as if he had been at a family reunion of his own. “They’re my family now too,” he told me.
Not everyone could be here, and some that once were are gone. Yet, those of us who were had a wonderful time in the now and remembering the past.
I worked long and hard preparing for the event but it was well worth the effort.
Now for the next few days, Tom and I will enjoy a little rest and relaxation.
We are headed to one of our favorite spots: The Black Hills of South Dakota. The leaves should be turning now and it will be beautiful.
Visiting The Hills has long been a special treat for me.
So now, after a long week of preparing for and hosting the reunion, it’s time to kick back a little.
Life is good today.
