While both teams put forth effort, the pitcher and field defense was where Willows had the upper hand. There were many satisfying cracks of the bat, putting the ball in play upon contact but unfortunately for the Lady Bears, the outs often came with runners still on base. Lady Bear Grace Alonso hit well. Willows assitant coach Jimmy O’Reilly pointed out, “The game went really fast, a lot of three up and three down.”
The Lady Bears seemed to lose confidence as the game wore on. However, the general demeanor was pleasant as the two teams congratulated one another on a game well played.
“Our pitcher did really good,” the coach for the Lady Bears said. “The stats just don’t show. Some hits didn’t fall.” The Lady Bears will have a chance to redeem themselves against Willows on Wednesday April 10 at 2 PM.
