Colusa JV Lady Hawks strong offense too much for Corning

Colusa’s Junior Varsity’s bats were too much for Corning last week, as the JV Lady Hawks claimed a huge win and a final score of 18-8.

Colusa’s first score of the game came early in the first inning with Abby Meyers crossing the plate off a single by Giselle Espindola. The Lady Hawks claimed three more runs on the board with a home plate steal by Lily Woodring and two RBI’s by Abby Wolf for a 4-0 Colusa lead.

Corning knotted the game up twice, once in the bottom of the first and again at the top of the third, leaving a 6-6 score.

The Lady Hawks took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. Anahi Guzman doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs, and Wolf grounded out, scoring one run. In the fifth inning, Colusa scored seven runs with Woodring, Reese Roper, Espindola, and Wolf all driving runs in the frame.

Roper pitched seven innings, allowing 13 hits and eight runs, while striking out three and walking one. Colusa scattered a total of 12 hits in the game with Myers leading the at bats, going 3-for-5. ■
