La Carona Boxing Club places in Reno competition


Three youth boxers from the La Corona Boxing Club competed in the Cinco de Mayo fights in Reno Nevada. Leilani Bravo, 8, participated in her first competition and was edged out in a close decision to a competitor in Sacramento. Alayza Padilla, 10, participated in her first fight and was edged out in a close decision to a competitor from Carson City, NV. Padilla was awarded the best fight of the day. Diego Rubio, 17, competed in his second competition and won with back and fourth action. Coach Merced Corona said, “ Overall we had a great day and I couldn’t be more proud of our kids.” Pictured L-to-R: Merced Corona, Diego Rubio, Leilani Bravo, Alayza Padilla, and coach Rich Bowen.
