Sports Recap (12/11/2019)


Colusa boys fell to Marysville on Dec. 2, 61-53. During the Pierce Invitational Tournament, the boys lost to Dixon 67-58 on Thursday, but Friday had turned their luck around when they won against Live Oak, 79-53, then Orland 67-54. The RedHawks will play this weekend’s tournament held in Marysville. 

Lady RedHawks returned from Marysville on Dec. 2 with a 47-36 victory. On Thursday, during the Jim Ernst Classic, the girls won against Woodland Christian, 48-19. They lost to Durham 46-40 and won 37-36 against Wheatland. The Lady RedHawks will be playing this weekend in the Durham Trojan Classic. 

Maxwell boys lost against Los Molinos, 75-32 at their first game on Dec. 2. On Thursday, the team went to Greenville to beat Downieville in the John Holland Classic, 70-37, before loosing to Redding Christian, 59-50. The Panthers will have another tournament this weekend in Maxwell. 

Lady Panthers lost a home game, 43-34, on Dec. 2 against Los Molinos. During the John Holland Classic Tournament, the girls won against Chester, 40-28, before loosing to Redding Christian, 49-13. They were victorious against Downieville, 43-28. The Lady Panthers are entered in the Warren Meyer Classic this weekend in Woodland. 

Pierce boys have had a long week of wins starting on Dec. 2 in Woodland, 60-36. During the Pierce Invitational, they went up against Orland, 69-31 and Oroville, 45-38, before completing the championship against Middleton 60-24. The Bears will play in the Red Brown Tournament during a trip to San Anselmo this weekend.

Lady Bears were defeated on Thursday in Wheatland, 53-46, but came back stronger to win against Clear Lake, 50-35, on Friday, before winning against Woodland Christian, 54-20, during the Colusa Tournament. Another tournament is scheduled this weekend in Corning. 

Princeton boys were stymied by Los Molinos, 70-22, on Thursday. The boys will compete tonight in Chico against Core Butte to sharpen their skills for the weekend, when they come to Maxwell’s tournament. 

Williams boys came up short at their first game against Paradise, 81-57, on Dec. 2. Then, during the Pierce Invitational, lost to Oroville, 64-51, and Orland, 56-48. This weekend the Yellowjackets will come against their rivals in Maxwell’s tournament. 

The Lady Jackets did not win in the Biggs Tournament over the weekend. They lost to East Nicolaus, 47-23, then lost to Hamilton, 53-14.


Colusa boys took to Marysville on Dec. 26 for a match against the Indians to garner a 3-1 win. The boys tied 1-1 against Williams at a home game on Dec. 3. Then the boys had a strong win against Hamilton, 4-0, at Thursday’s away game. Willows will be coming to Colusa for a match on Thursday. 

Lady RedHawks were victorious against Williams at a home game, 6-2. The girls competed in the Oroville Feather River Tournament and won against Hamilton 7-0, lost to Corning 5-0, but were victorious against Lassen, 5-1. On Thursday, the girls will have a home game when Willows comes to play. 

Pierce boys fell in Live Oak, 2-1, at an away game on Dec. 5. On Thursday, the boys will play at home against Redding Christian.

The Lady Bears also went to Live Oak on Dec. 5, returning empty-handed, 11-0. The girls will also be on their home turf when Redding Christian comes on Thursday. 

Williams boys tied 1-1 against Colusa on Dec. 3. When Esparto came to Williams, the boys lost 2-1. The Yellowjackets will be playing a home match against Durham on Thursday. 

Ladyjackets had a rough week, falling to Colusa, 6-2, on Oct. 3. Then on Thursday, the girls fell to Esparto, 3-1.
