Michael Cervantes gave the assist on Mauricio Morales’ penalty kick form the 11-yard line, serving as the only goal of the game for the Yellowjackets. Jacket Goalie, Luis Araujo, saved Williams several times to keep a tie score, 1-1.
“We had them for a long time,” said Coach Humberto Guzman. “It was a good close game.”
Back in action last Thursday, Williams hosted the Esparto Spartans and came away with a 2-1 loss. Injuries plagued the Yellowjackets with a head injury on goalie Araujo, at the end of the first half, and another on defensive back, Omar Lomeli.
“Even though we lost, I am not upset,’ said Guzman. “I saw how each and every player tried their hardest; we just couldn’t get the ball behind the net. I am proud of my team and their hard work.”
Williams will host Durham Thursday with a 3:15 PM start time. ■
