Colusa’s sixth and final goal went in at the 70th minute on a shot from Victor Hernandez, assisted by Edgar Garcia. The 6-0 score held to the end of the match, giving Colusa another much needed SVL league victory. The RedHawks had strong defensive play from fullbacks Jesus Hernandez, Nicolas Lopez, Miguel Torres, and Omar Huerta. Also playing well were midfielders Dominic Garcia and forward Lucas Garin.

RedHawks goalkeepers Diego Avila and Andreas Lopez had good outings, with Avila having five saves in 65 minutes of play and Lopez with one save in 15 minutes of play. Colusa now stands at 3-0-1 in SVL play and are 4-0-1 overall.

The victory came after the Colusa Boys varsity soccer team hosted the Winters Warriors for a Sacramento Valley League matchup on Dec. 10, and came away with a 2-0 win. The RedHawks defense was put to the test by the aggressive Warriors forwards, but kept the shots against the Colusa goal to a minimum.

The 2-0 score held to the half and throughout the remaining 40 minutes, giving the RedHawks the much needed SVL victory.

Colusa will be back home on Thursday hosting Redding Christian. ■
