BASKETBALL

Colusa boys have been giving a solid effort on the court but a loss on Dec. 17 against Sutter, 55-50, set the tone for the upcoming home tournament. The RedHawks were victorious against Williams, 62-6, but were conquered by Durham, 83-71, and then by Gridley, 67-59. After the holidays, the boys will be in Oroville for another tournament.

Lady RedHawks had a difficult loss against Sutter on Dec. 17, 53-23. Over the weekend in Hamilton City, the girls triumphed over Biggs, 56-17, but were not able to recreate the win against Hamilton, 38-27, then to Quincy, 33-32. The girls will have an away game against Lower Lake after the new year.

Pierce boys had a great week, coming back from Woodland with a 56-40 victory on Dec. 16. In Colusa’s tournament, the Bears were victorious against Paradise, 68-48, Gridley, 62-46, and were crowned champions of the weekend after winning against Durham, 56-33. This weekend, the boys will aim to dominate another tournament in Dixon.

Lady Bears also wracked up the wins through the past week, overpowering Orland at a Dec. 17 home game against Orland, 61-36. The girls repeated the victory 59-47 against the Trojans when they went to Orland’s tournament, and also won against Mt Shasta, 35-27. The girls will join their brothers in Dixon this weekend for a tournament.

Princeton boys were successful against Downieville at an away game on Dec. 18, 59-49. They will face Maxwell at an away game after an extended holiday break on Jan. 18.

SOCCER

Colusa boys were victorious on Dec.16 when Live Oak came to play, 2-1. The RedHawks were able to return with a win from all of their away games. The beat the Pierce Bears 2-1 on Dec.17, and completely trounced Redding Christian, 7-0, on Thursday. The RedHawks will have a couple of weeks of no games during the holidays.

Lady RedHawks suffered a devastating 7-2 loss at a Dec. 16 home game against Live Oak. The loss sparked a doubling down on their efforts and they conquered Pierce Bears, 5-0, on Dec. 17. The girls celebrated a 2-1 success on Thursday when Sutter came to Colusa. After a break, the girls will have more games in the new year.

Pierce boys enjoyed a 2-1 win in Durham, and although they fell to Colusa, the Bears were able to come right back against Paradise, 2-1, on Thursday. The boys will have a break from games during the holidays.

Lady Bears stymied Durham, 2-1, at an away game. Unfortunately, the girls were not able to repeat the victory when they lost to Colusa Lady RedHawks, on Dec. 17, and then to Paradise on Thursday, 2-1. The girls will have more games after the holiday break.
