Lake County man busted for carjacking

A Clearlakes Oaks man was arrested in Yolo County after demanding a vehicle from a Williams woman on Sunday.

Lt. Chris Miller, of the Williams Police Department, said Kaleb Smith Jackson, 37, approached the older female near Fouch & Son Pharmacy around 3 PM, while she was at the ATM machine, and demanded her car keys.

“Out of fear for her safety, the victim handed over her keys and watched as Jackson stole her vehicle and drove south onto Interstate 5,” Miller said, in a press release.

Williams police officers, who responded to the scene, immediately broadcasted a “Be on the lookout,” for the vehicle.

A short time later, Yolo County law enforcement located Jackson after he abandoned the victim’s vehicle on an off ramp and fled on foot, Miller said.

Jackson was detained by Yolo County Sheriff’s deputies who then released him into the custody of the Williams Police Department.

Jackson was arrested and booked into the Colusa County Jail for carjacking, grand theft from an elder, and possession of a controlled substance.

Jackson has multiple previous arrests in Lake County for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony violation of his the terms of parole (PRCS), court records indicate.

Jackson is being held on $100,000 bail. ■
