The Colusa County District Attorney’s Office has filed new criminal charges against former Colusa Police Lt. Elden Tamez, who was previously arrested on embezzlement and grand theft charges in connection to money allegedly stolen from the Colusa Police Department’s canine account and Colusa Police Officers Association.

Tamez, who served the department for 19 before he was ousted in October, will be arraigned in Colusa County Superior Court today on three counts of grand theft of a firearm (valued at over $950 each), one count of grand theft of personal property, and four counts of receiving stolen property.

Tamez has pleaded not guilty on the previous charges. ■
