Colusa and Lake Counties to host virtual meeting with state legislator

The Colusa County and Lake County Democratic Parties will host a virtual meeting with Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry at 6 PM on Wednesday, July 29. Aguiar-Curry has been serving Colusa County as one of our State Assembly representatives since January 2017.

Aguiar-Curry has represented Colusa County’s interests well, said local Democrats. Her efforts on Assembly Bill 2074 establish clear guidelines for when companies from the olive oil industry can use the term “California” in their product labeling and marketing. Assembly Bill 2047 directs the Consortium of California Alzheimer’s Disease Centers to widely disseminate and implement the “Assessment of Cognitive Complaints Toolkit” to healthcare providers, giving providers tools to recognize and plan for an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. In January, she introduced Assembly Bill 1965, requiring the State Family Planning, Access, Care, and Treatment (Family PACT) Program to cover the costs of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. This vaccine plays a crucial role in curbing the spread of a preventable cancer-causing infection.

Having grown up in the small rural town of Winters, then being the first female Mayor to serve her hometown, Aguiar-Curry knows the challenges of California’s rural communities. She has introduced legislation to improve healthcare and pharmacy access using the technology known as tele-health and tele-pharmacy. She has been vocal and involved in discussions with PG&E regarding public safety power shutoffs.

During the virtual meeting, Aguiar-Curry is expected to discuss her many efforts on behalf of all Colusa and Lake County residents and will be open for questions. This is a chance to engage and become better informed about her work.
