Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) and Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) released the following statements in reaction to the announcement today that Butte County is allowing a safe re-opening of their economy:
Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) stated, “As you know we have been asking for regional modifications to the Governor’s statewide stay-at-home order. It shouldn’t have taken this long, but we’re glad to see the Governor finally allow for regional re-openings. Yuba-Sutter moved forward consistent with public health guidance this week, and now Butte County is taking this next step. I thank the Governor for listening. Hopefully, business owners can move forward without state regulators threatening to take away their livelihoods with arbitrary penalties for noncompliance with an outdated state order. We owe a debt of gratitude to the leadership in Yuba-Sutter who put a spotlight on how we can open safely in the North State and provided a pathway for other counties to follow.”
Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) praised the County of Butte for taking the necessary steps to reopen the local economy.
“Butte County’s reopening underscores the North State’s unique position to serve as a role model for other areas of California to follow. Yuba and Sutter Counties led the way earlier this week with their steadfast leadership. I cannot thank the brave business owners and their employees for their persistence and hard work to prepare their businesses with health precautions to serve the public.”
