About 1,000 rubber ducks are set to race down the Sacramento River on Saturday, July 4. The annual Jim Davison Memorial Rubber Duckie Race is hosted by the Colusa Lions Club each Independence Day as a fundraiser to send Egling Middle School sixth graders to Shady Creek Outdoor School. Rubber Duckie tickets can be purchased for $5 each at Davison Drug and Stationary, 640 Market St., and Messick Ace Hardware, 729 Market Street, or from any Lion’s Club member. The duck race will launch east of the Colusa Boat Ramp at 2 PM. First place duck wins $500 for the corresponding ticket holder. Second and third place winners will receive $300 and $200, respectively. You need not be present for your Duck to float to the finish line, but you can cheer on the tiny racers from Colusa’s Levee Park.
