Letter to the editor (11/11/2020

Dear Editor:

Thank you for the Pioneer Review’s coverage of Puptoberfest 2020. The event was sponsored by Colusa County Animal Control and all funds raised went to Friends of Colusa County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS). A great, big thank you to Molly Conrado for her ideas, energy, and leadership for this event. Despite the pandemic restrictions, she found a way to allow us to celebrate Colusa’s pets and raise money to support our shelter animals.

Thanks to participants’ generosity, Puptoberfest raised enough money to pay for vaccinations for shelter cats and dogs for 4-6 months. That ensures the animals are protected from some of the most common illnesses. Along that line, we greatly appreciate human participants’ cooperation in keeping each other safe by wearing masks while at the event.

Thank you, too, to sponsors who donated to help make Puptoberfest a success: Colusa Veterinary Hospital, JV’s Grooming and Pet Resort, Colusa Lion’s Club, Williams Grocery Outlet, and Santucci Leather. You are all assets to Colusa County!

And, although the shelter never labels itself a “no kill shelter” as described in the article, Colusa County Animal Shelter staff work hard, on duty and off, to ensure that as many animals as possible find homes. With the community’s support, FOCCAS and shelter staff will continue to improve the lives of animals in Colusa County.

The Williams Pioneer Review has a small staff of one, covering all of Colusa County; but we’re proud to have the assistance of a large army of community contributors to extend our range and reach. This is one of those stories. If you have a story you would like to share, please email them to: news@colusacountynews.com or give us a call.
