A two-vehicle crash near Colusa on Thursday afternoon killed two, injured three others.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 PM on Thursday, June 30 on Highway 20 at the Sycamore Cutoff in Colusa County.
The CHP said that the driver, Jose Sanchez, 25, of Grimes, was driving his 2017 Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 20 and made an unsafe turning movement directly into the path into the Toyota Avalon.
Suffering fatal injuries were a 35-year-old male of Marysville, the driver of a 2002 Toyota Avalon, and passenger, a 37-year-old female, of Colusa, the CHP said. Santirce Moon, 23, of Colusa, a second passenger of the Toyota suffered moderate injuries and was transported via air ambulance to Rideout Hospital.
The driver of the Ford, and his passenger, a 4-year-old female suffered minor to no injuries.
Both occupants of the Ford were using safety belts, and a child safety seat. It is unknown if all parties in the Toyota were wearing safety belts, the CHP said.
The CHP said the collision remains under investigation.■
