CCOE to provide free books to students

The Colusa County Office of Education’s Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) Department will host a series of book giveaways throughout the month of October as part of their “And Literacy For All” initiative.

The primary goal of the initiative is to have all children reading at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade.

Each person who stops by the IAL table during the scheduled book giveaways, will receive a free children’s book.  Additionally, if an item is purchased at the participating business during the book giveaway, a literacy puzzle can also be obtained by showing a member of the IAL team their receipt of purchase. “We are grateful to our local businesses for collaborating with our And Literacy For All team,” stated Santana.  “This collaboration gives us the opportunity to support our neighbors and community by providing accessible literacy resources.”

The schedule for the book giveaways is as follows:

Colusa: Oct. 14, Roccos Bar & Grill from 11 AM-Noon and Chon’s Taco el Amigo from 1-2 PM; Oct. 15, Market Street Grill from 11 AM-Noon and La Autentica de Colima from 1-2 PMpm; Oct.16, Caffeinated  from 7:30-8:30 AM.
