Samuel Milton Mason (1944-2020)

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Samuel Milton Mason announce his passing on September 20, 2020 in Roseville, CA after a brief illness.

Sam was born in Willows, CA to Milton and Edith Mason on September 22, 1944.  He was a 75-year resident of Colusa County, living in Maxwell.  Sam was a rice farmer, retiring after 45-years of service to our county’s agricultural industry.  In July 1980 he married the love of his life Diana Marie Gonzales and enjoyed 40 years of marriage prior to his passing.  Sam had two children, Charles Scott “Scotty” Mason and daughter Samantha.

Sam was a member of the Maxwell Volunteer Fire Department, retiring after 25-years of service to the community.  He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and he believed the best TV was a muted one.  He loved spending time with family, especially is grandson, Matthew.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Edith and his son, Scotty.  He will be deeply missed by his wife, Diana, his daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Randy Wilkins and his grandson Matthew Wilkins all of Maxwell.  He also leaves his brother, Richard (Carmen) Mason of Maxwell, Nieces Kathy, Cindy and Kristy as well as numerous honorary grandchildren, extended family and friends.

A Graveside Service honoring Sam Mason will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020, 10:00 AM at the Maxwell Cemetery, 5329 Maxwell Sites Road, Maxwell, California.  Memorial contributions in Sam’s name to the Maxwell Fire Department are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
