Life, as I see it: Lift up

It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do to spruce things up.

The painter finished painting the front porch and the deck this week. It kind of gave everything a lift.

Sometimes we need that same kind of lift in our own life.

This has been a challenge of a year but with each setback there has seemed to be a step or two ahead.

A week or so ago I stopped to visit Norma Meyers at the Nut Chateau in Medora, North Dakota. It’s a neat but plain shop and a wonderland for the nut lover. What a treat.

Norma is a treat as well. Now 94 years young, she continues to run her shop just as she has done for the past 30 plus years.

She loves her shop, and she loves to visit with the folks who stop by.

It’s a blessing for sure to find your niche in life and get to happily live your life doing it.

So, as I whine a little about my aches and pains and because I’m getting older, I can remember Norma and tell myself to snap out of it.

There’s so much ugliness in our world these days, it’s a lift to meet someone who actually likes their world.

I grew up in an era of innocence. Sadly the kids of today have lost some of that. Maybe we’re feeding them too much truth when a little imaginary fun would be better.

Sometimes I hear my grandkids playing let’s pretend and it makes me smile. Imagination helps the mind to grow.

There is nothing wrong with having dreams and imagining what it will be like when you reach your goal.

Never be afraid to dream or to try. You just might succeed.

Life is good today..
