Our grandpuppy Kyra has been with us this week. The little Jack Russel gal is 17 this year. She’s a little slower now; her health isn’t that great but she still seems to enjoy her life. Maybe she sleeps more than she once did. It took her three tries this morning to jump up on the loveseat for her nap. Finally, she made it and now she is happily snoring.
Isn’t that what we all want? We want to be content, happy, and comfortable.
I think we could learn a lot from this old dog.
We need to spend our time well.
Every time we keep Kyra, we wonder if it will be the last. If it is, we know having her with us one more time is time well spent.
This week we had family and friends over for a small dinner party. I can’t tell you how excited we were to have some semblance of normal, and actually have guests to entertain.
As it turned out, it was a beautiful night and we got to be outdoors and christen the patio area.
Again, time well spent.
Earlier in the day, friends Vern, Judy, and Joyce stopped by on their way back to South Dakota. We are so blessed to have this extra family in our lives.
Vern has been with me through both happy and sad times in my life. He’s one of those people who became my instant forever friend and it has remained that way for more than 20 years now.
We all need those kinds of friends in our lives.
I’ve lost a number of friends this past couple of years. It has made me more than ever to value the time we have with one another. Friends, family, and even an aging beloved pet are the true measures of your contentment in life.
God provides all in our lives. We need not to forget to appreciate all that is given to us.
Life is good today.. ■
