Cowbells clanging, family cheering, and the sight of my 9-year-old grandson and his dad crossing the finish line was more than exciting for this proud mom and grandma.
Son Val has competed for the past two years in the Maah Daah Hey Trail bike race. This year his son Vaughn joined him.
It’s hard to describe the excitement we all felt knowing Vaughn had just completed his first 13 mile ride on a challenging trail. The smiles on his and his dad’s faces said how they felt.
It was a great day.
It was so good to have the whole family together there to cheer them on.
That’s it. It’s moments like these that is the reason I know we are where we belong here in North Dakota.
My blog went live this week. It’s called ‘Cook Like Ma’ and will contain ongoing recipes and cooking tips. There will also be occasional stories and memories. I hope my readers like it. You can visit the blog at www.cooklikema.com.
Please leave comments or suggestions. I’ll answer any questions you might have about my posts.
This has been a learning experience for me. I have to give my daughter-in-law Becky Craigo a big thank you for helping me get this done.
Not too long ago I realized that I had been way too lazy during so much time at home. The new normal and social distancing was taking its toll on me. I’ve always prided myself in that I just keep moving and get things done.
When I realized that I was instead, sitting, eating, watching television and napping more than anything, I decided something had to change.
That’s when I chose to begin writing the blog. I also found other things to keep me busy each day. I’m feeling better.
We can’t let these troubled times get the best of us. We need to continue to live our best lives.
One day at a time we will get through this.
Meanwhile, keep doing the best you can to be active, positive and strong.
Life is good today. ■
