Life, as I see it: Time for a break

Home Opinions Life, as I see it: Time for a break

Hello ( or should I say howdy) from Cody, Wyoming. We decided to take a few days to rest and relax.

My son’s family came here a week or so ago and had a great time. We are looking forward to tomorrow when we’ll explore the area and see some the fun sights around here.

We just got back from dinner where Tom enjoyed prime rib. I’ve never seen a serving of prime quite that big. It looked like a small roast. We are in cattle country so we should have expected it. He said it was delicious, but he had to get a to-go box for more than half of it.

This weekend, grandkids Kohen and Aubree had a lemonade and cookie stand. They also sold ‘crystals’ that may have been rocks. It was fun to see them wheeling and dealing and making their sales.

This morning, grandson Vaughn joined Kohen in the sales venture. Of course, grandma shopped again. I now own another ‘gem,’ some dice, and a rubber ball. You have to give them credit for ambition.

In the past few days, I’ve become great grandma twice. My foster granddaughter Annika welcomed baby boy Taylen into their family. My ‘claimed’ grandson, Quinten Indrieri, and Kasey welcomed baby boy Parker. How exciting .

For now, it feels good to get out and about a bit. Seeing and or wearing masks is becoming a little less awkward. It’s not a perfect world by any means, but it’s what we have these days, so I guess we just deal with it.

Yet, my world is pretty good. I spent time this week with my family. I see healthy grandchildren growing strong and wise, and I’ve shared the joy and the wonder of new babies entering our lives.

The blog I started last week has been met with approval and encouragement. Daughter-in-law Becky is continuing to help me to grow and expand it. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’m certainly enjoying the effort. Take a peek at it at www.cooklikema.com. Life is good today.
