Life, as I see it: Whine, complain, shelter in place, and wash your hands…

We are living in a whole new world. We’ve been told to stay home and take care of ourselves. We don’t have the freedom to do just anything that we want just the way we always had that freedom.

It’s going to take some time, but we can do it because we are USA Strong.

However, I can’t help but notice the people who are panicking and hoarding. So, I say shame on you. You know who you are. What good does it do to buy more than your family or your household can use? What good does it do to make sure you are protected, if everyone else around you is at risk?

It is time people to shape up.

I don’t like sitting idle at home anymore than the next person. If you read this column, you know we are right in the middle of our move to North Dakota.

We have been assured by our movers that our belongings will leave for North Dakota before the end of next week.

When we physically head out will depend on the state of the issues at the time.

Lucky for us the kids in Beach will meet the moving truck and show the movers where to put things at the house there.

We don’t want to travel in the midst of so much turmoil and so many unknown factors. So, we will monitor it everyday, take direction from our leaders and do what we believe is best for ourselves and the people around us.

Over the last week, I have made a point of calling or messaging old friends just to check and see how they are doing. So far the count is good. Everyone is accounted for and doing well. There are a few more on my list to call. I’m pretty sure I’ll have time to kill in the next week so I might as well make those calls.

We have Verismo coffee maker and in the last couple of days it has gone belly up. Now we are digging trough the travel coffee bag and going back to drip coffee made in the two cup pot. So far that is our only hardship.  Don’t laugh. We are coffee snobs so it is an issue for us.

We are told there are no cases of COVID-19 confirmed here in Lake County. I hope everyone continues to use caution.

Maybe we feel like we are going a little stir crazy, but think about it. Those of us who have a roof over our heads and a bed to sleep in are the lucky ones. We shouldn’t complain if we have to stay home.

Cards, music, and family board games are how our parents used to occupy their time. And, while they did it, they actually talked to their kids about more than sports events or video games. Imagine that.

Oh, I’m just as crabby as anyone of you. I don’t like having to sit and wait and wonder what is coming next.

I have a tendency to wake up a little stressed every morning. My new routine these days is to have my talk with God time before I ever get out of bed. I begin my day by asking that the anxiety be lifted from my spirit, I thank the good Lord for letting me sleep and then letting me awaken.  I ask Him to put his angels around everyone I love, everyone I know and the leaders of our nation.

One day at a time is how we will get through this. If we don’t get to leave for North Dakota as planned, that’s OK. We can wait it out. Unfortunately we’ll be sleeping on an air mattress for who knows how long since our good mattress will be on a truck to North Dakota.

In all there is a blessing. We have an air mattress

Life is good today. Love one another.
