The wind here in Beach, North Dakota has been blowing like a banshee. It kind of just sucks the breath right out of you.
Earlier in the week, we had some great summer type days. The grandkids came over and swam for hours. It does my heart good to see them have so much fun.
Today, we’re heading to the Black Hills. I love being there so the next few days will be a treat.
Our patio expansion was completed this week. I’m loving the extra space. Tom’s happy because it took away from the giant backyard lawn he has to mow.
The crew, Josh, Tim, Tom, Chris and D Dudley did a great job. We’re lucky to have good contractors here. The bonus is they are old friends and we got to visit.
We ordered a hot tub for the patio, but it won’t arrive until fall. Who knew it takes 12-14 weeks to get one delivered? That’s OK. Winter hot tubbing is great.
Years ago, when we would travel to California, we always made a stop at the Horseshu, in Jackpot, Nevada. They had a hot tub on the roof that we enjoyed most in winter. It’s kind of neat to be cozy warm and see snow on the ground around you. The trick is to get back inside the building when you’re done.
It’s all about the adventure.
I managed to trip myself up and take a fall this week. This time, I tangled my foot in the strap of a canvas bag and propelled myself across the kitchen and landed with a thud on the floor.
Nothing broken, just bruised and sore. I’ll live.
As I’ve said before, you just have to keep going. I admit that I went to bed with pain relief tables pretty early that day, but I was up and at it again the next morning.
God gives us these bodies. It’s our job to take care if them. Unfortunately, we get older and they start to wear a bit.
But, as long as I can move, and as long as I can keep picking myself up, I’m going to keep going.
Life is good today. ■
