RedHawks soccer continue sweeping season wins

The Colusa Boys Varsity soccer team hosted Los Molinos on Thursday in a Sacramento Valley League match and came away with a convincing 7-1 victory.

Colusa forward Victor Hernandez had an outstanding game with five goals. Also scoring for the RedHawks were forwards Alejandro Rico and Lucas Garin. Rico’s goal was booted in on a penalty kick, and Garin’s goal was a nice shot from 15 yards out, assisted by midfielder Rodrigo Rodriguez. Also having assists were Ulises Galvan with two assists, Dominic Garcia with one assist, Rico with an assist and Rodriguez dishing out another assist.

RedHawks defense was led by fullbacks Jesus Hernandez, Andy Lopez, Darien Sarabia, and Nicolas Lopez. Goalkeepers Diego Avila and Andres Lopez had good games with Avila posting four saves and Lopez with three saves.

The team traveled to Redding on Feb. 4 for a SVL game and came away with an 8-0 win. Colusa had five goals in the first half and three in the second. Scoring for the RedHawks was forward Victor Hernandez with three goals, which was a Hat Trick. Rico had one goal, Galvan one goal and one assist, Nathael Morales one goal and two assists, Jesus Hernandez one goal and Kevin Sarabia with one goal. Also having assists were Rodriguez with two assists, Edgar Garcia with one assist, and Andy Lopez with one assist. Colusa had strong defensive play from fullbacks Jesus Hernandez, Darien Sarabia, Nico Lopez, Andy Lopez, Luis Lozano and Antonio Garcia. Colusa Goalkeeper Andres Lopez had a good day posting five saves.

Colusa now stands at 15-1-2 in Sacramento Valley League play and are 17-1-2 overall. The Trojans will host the RedHawks in Durham for another SVL matchup on Thursday at 5 PM. ■
