Man shot in possible robbery attempt

The Williams Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in a parking lot near the Shell fuel station on Monday.

Williams Police Lt. Chris Miller said the shooting occurred just after 10:30 PM and appears to be the result of an attempted armed robbery of a man who was in the parking area between the fuel station, east of Vann Street, and the Subway franchise.

Williams patrol officers responded to the scene following a report of shots fired, and found the adult male with an apparent, but non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The man was treated by Williams Fire Department personnel at the scene and then transported by Reach Flight Care to an area hospital for treatment.

The man is expected to make a full recovery, Miller said.

Based on the police department’s initial investigation, a witness reported that a suspect or suspects fled the area in a white, early 2000’s model Nissan Altima coupe.

Anyone with information about the incident or related incidents is encouraged to contact the Williams Police Department at (530) 473-2661 or email info@williamspd.net.
