The County of Colusa announced preparations are underway for the Aug. 31 landowner elections.
In a press release, Rose Gallo-Vasquez, Colusa County Clerk-Recorder Registrar, said that the filing period opens Monday, May 10, and runs through Friday, June 4.
“If an incumbent officeholder does not file by June 4, that deadline is extended to non-incumbents only to Wednesday, June 9,” officials said in the press release. “There will be no extension if the incumbent files by June 4.”
Offices set for election include the 4M Water District has two full term seats up (4 years) held by incumbents Wade Mathis and Katie Mathis. The Glenn Valley Water District has three four-year seats up. One seat is vacant and the other two incumbents are Patti Turner and John Alvernaz. And the Holthouse Water District has two four-year seats held by incumbents Cerena Lee and James Rickert.
Additionally, in the LaGrande Water District, four seats are up with three full term four-year and one two-year seat. Incumbents are Ronald LaGrande, Larry LaGrande, Zachary Dennis and Brett LaGrande. The Westside Water District has two four-year seats currently held by Zachary Dennis, and Perry Charter. The Colusa Basin Drainage District has two seats up in Colusa County. Division II is for a two-year term and is currently held by Mary Fahey, and Division III has a four-year seat up currently held by George Tibbitts. And the Maxwell Irrigation District has two 4-year seats held by incumbents Mike Bell and Chris Dobson.
