Maxwell kicks off Easter celebration

Children race for the hunt of the golden egg in Maxwell on Saturday.

Have you ever seen a football field bombarded with candy-filled Easter eggs? On Saturday, that was just the scene as Maxwell Park and Recreation District hosted their fourth Easter Hunt Extravaganza at the Maxwell High School field.

“We had a great turn-out,” said Kyle Miller, MPR president. “Using the high school field with the PA system worked out better than in years past.”

Over 40 children rushed to collect the 2,500 candy-filled eggs.

Gold and Silver eggs were also in the hunt for each age group, and finders were awarded a prepacked easter basket donated by the MPR Auxiliary.

“I loved the egg hunt,” said Gia Rudiger. “I had so much fun, and it’s a fun tradition in our town.”

Maxwell Park and Recreation thanks everyone for the candy donations. A Premier Mushroom Community Grant funded the plastic eggs and prizes.

Easter Egg hunts in Arbuckle, Colusa and Williams will be held Saturday.
