Mary worked at the Colusa Hospital for over 30 years, first as a cook in the kitchen, and later in the Housekeeping Department. Prior to that Mary had worked as a teacher-aide in the Colusa Elementary Migrant Ed program. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed spending time with family, reading, doing puzzles, sewing, quilting, knitting, watching westerns, and eating chocolate.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32—“And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Mary is survived by her brothers Herman and Daniel Ramirez, both of Colusa; Daughter, Diane Surita “George”; sons: Raymond Gabriel Martinez “Mi Won” of Chico, Christopher Martinez of Colusa, Grandchildren: Tangi Surita, Andrea Surita, Jake Surita, Anita Guzman, Cecilia Ruiz, Evelina Green, Yolanda Trevino, Stephen Martinez. She has 15 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021 5-8:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Mary’s Life to be Thursday, January 7, 2021 10:00 a.m. all at McNary-Moore Chapel 5th and Main, Colusa. A Graveside Service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 1741 Wescott Road, Colusa, CA.
