Long-time Colusa resident Frances Ellen Simino, 79, entered eternal rest and reunited with her husband, Donald “Sim” Simino on December 26, 2020. Together with her family, Frances took her last breath with her son by her side.
Raised in Princeton, California, Frances is the daughter of Emery and Neoma Dowden. She had 6 siblings, Norma Jacobsen, Joseph Dowden, Gregory Dowden, Inetta Word, and Ricky Dowden.
Frances was a member of the class of 1959 from Colusa High School. After she graduated, she worked for I.G. Zumwalt for 3 decades. She then worked for the County of Colusa Road Department for 17 years before enjoying her retirement.
Frances loved spending time with her family, reading, trivia, tennis, Turner Classic Movies, history, scrabble, and watching Jeopardy. In her early years she enjoyed camping at Butte Meadows, Fort Bragg, and Santa Cruz. She especially enjoyed holidays to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Her humor, kindness, and words of advice will be greatly missed by many. Frances is survived by her sister Inetta Word and her husband Calvin Word. As well as by her son, Charlie Simino and his wife Kelly. Along with her daughter Cara (Missy) Duarte and her husband Ted. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Zackery Simino, Jessica Simino, Emily Simino, Madison Duarte, and Thomas Duarte as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will always remember her fun-loving spirit.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Monday, January 11, 2021, at McNary Moore. Services will be held at 11am Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Colusa Cemetery. ■
