At the age of 8, Juanita immigrated from Spain, along with her mother and two brothers, Tony and Adolf, to Winters, CA to join her father and start a new life; sister Annie was born soon after in Winters. Juanita attended school in Winters and then San Jose State University after high school. Not only did Juanita graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, it was here where she met the love of her life, Frank, at a St. Patrick’s Day dance. Juanita would light up as she told the story of how her friends Dorothy and Rosie made her go to the dance – on “a borrowed dime” none-the-less to pay for the bus ride to the hall. Sixty-five years later (sixty-one married), they still held hands, bickered lovingly, took long rides in the orchard, and looked back proudly at the life they created together.
Juanita enjoyed her job as a mathematician at NASA Ames Research Center followed by raising three children while helping to manage the family apartments and orchards. Juanita was an exceptional cook and was passionate about serving family, friends, and those in need. She was an active volunteer at her children’s schools, scouts, and other philanthropic organizations.
Juanita is predeceased in death by her beloved parents, Adolfo and Ana, brothers, Tony and Adolf, sister, Annie, and nephew, Gilbert. She is survived by her husband Frank; her two sons Frank (Chris) Nobriga and Glenn (Mary) Nobriga; daughter Ann-Marie (Scott) Nobriga-Hounshell; grandchildren Chelsea (Andrew) Alberts, Zachary (Caitin), Nicholas, Christopher, John, and Anthony; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved deeply and prayed for often.
