In the early 1950s, she immigrated to Arbuckle, CA, dreaming of a better life. It is here that she married Albert Duarte, raised two children together, and created Duarte Hay Banking. Albert and Teresa were married 60 years.
She had just celebrated her 90th birthday with family, including a sibling, Jose. Teresa was known for her grace, kind heart, and generosity with others. She loved cooking and serving family and friends at her kitchen table. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and tending to her doves.
Faith was an important part of her life as she was an active volunteer in the Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was well-respected and loved by many in the community of Arbuckle.
Theresa was preceded in death by her loyal husband, Albert, and eight siblings. She is survived by her son, Cruz; daughter, Ana; and nephew/adopted son, Jorge (Terry).
Grandchildren Jesse (Rochel), Danny (Krystal), and Diana. Great-grandchildren, Nora, Conor, and William, and her brother, Jose.
Teresa lived the life she dreamed of and will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, April 8, with the Rosary beginning at 6 PM at McNary-Moore Chapel, 107 5th St. in Colusa.
A mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 9. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle, with graveside service immediately following.
Those wishing to honor Teresa may make a donation to the Arbuckle Fire Department. ■
