RedHawks Competitive in SVL Cross Country Meet

Sacramento Valley League cross country moved to the Arbuckle Golf Club last Monday, Feb. 22, where the 5,000 meter course proved more challenging than what they had faced previously due to the slightly increased distance in addition to a hillier terrain.

Ultimately, Winters claimed the team competition in both the varsity boys and girls races, however the Colusa RedHawks turned in some strong individual efforts on the day.

Edgar Garcia paced the RedHawk boys completing the course in a time of 22:15, which was good for fourth place.

Garcia’s teammates Rodolfo Rodrigues (22:51), Lucian Manor (23:06), Bryan Montejano (23:16), and Jose Valdez (23:34) finished in a pack taking sixth through ninth place respectively.

In the girl’s race, Colusa’s Elle Faris (30:16) was seventh, while Gladis Almaraz (32:61) was tenth.

Pierce did not report results from the event.

Runners returned to the Colusa-Sacramento River Recreation Area for the third SVL meet on Wednesday, Mar. 3.
