Pierce golf falls short against Durham

Pierce’s Alex High, shown here in a photo from a previous match, shot a 45 against Durham on March 3.

A trip to the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico saw the Pierce Bears’ golf team come up five strokes short when they fell to Durham 251-256 last Wednesday, March 3.

Luke Voorhees turned in the lowest round of the day with a 44 to lead the Bears, while Alex High finished a shot back with a 45.

Ryan Travis and Bryce Murphy both shot 48, while Louis Franklin and Matt Reyna posted scores of 51 and 58, respectively.

It may have been the last match of the year for the Bears, who were cleared to begin football practice on Monday, and as a result may lose a significant percentage of their team.

In other golf news, the Colusa RedHawks were also in action last Wednesday when they hosted Paradise at the Colusa Golf and Country Club.

Logan Book had the low card for the RedHawks with a 44, while Madison Reister ended a stroke back at 45. Chase Carrere shot a 50 with both Mason Saso and Clayton Book recording a 52.

Colusa is scheduled to face off in a dual meet with Williams today.
