Soccer: Colusa boys soccer tops Pierce

Colusa’s Rodrigo Rodriguez defends against Pierce’s Jesus Ramirez in a match on April 15. Rodriguez got the first goal for the RedHawks who won 3-1.

After being shut out by Winters 3-0 at home on Tuesday, April 13, the RedHawks rebounded last Thursday to down Pierce 3-1 in Arbuckle.

Rodrigo Rodriguez got Colusa started when early on he lofted a long range shot into the upper corner of the net, although while the RedHawks kept the ball on the Bears side of the field for the remainder of the half, they could not increase their advantage.

In the second half, Ulises Galvan took matters into his own hands delivering a pair of goals to make the store 3-0.

Pierce mustered a late goal, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

Colusa (3-3-2) was scheduled to be in Live Oak on Tuesday and conclude its season at home against Oroville today, while Pierce (0-7) was set to play its final match of the year against Winters at home on Tuesday.
