December Garden
This is the best time of the year to plant your bare-root roses, bulbs, camellias, cyclamen, and hellebore, living Christmas trees, and bare-root fruit and landscape trees. In addition, it’s time to adjust your irrigation, protect your citrus and other sensitive plants. Apply dormant spray, add mulch to your plant beds, divide perennials, and throw out fallen rose leaves.

2014 Winter Showcase
The Williams Community Center is looking for talented local acts for its bi-annual entertainment spectacular. To participate contact Melissa at (530) 405-6150 or email WCCEntertainment@gmail.com. Deadline to sign up is Friday, December 27th. Performances will be held on January 11, 2014 at 6:00 PM. Located at the Williams Community Center, 860 C Street, Williams.

New year’s day breakfast
The Grand Island Firefighters Association will host its 17th Annual New Years Day breakfast at the Grand Island Station located at 350 Main Street, in Grimes, on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. From 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the group will accept donations for a delicious full breakfast meal. Come bring your appetites as well as your friends and families.

Card Party and Luncheon
The Catholic Ladies Relief Society #4 of Colusa will host its annual card party and luncheon on Saturday, January 11th at St. Bernadette’s Hall at 745 Ware Ave in Colusa. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11;30 a.m. Fee is $12. Winterize your Fruit Trees Workshop
Learn how to winterize your deciduous fruit trees and citrus trees on Saturday, January 11th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. located at Davis Ranches, 7681 Sycamore Slough Rd., in Colusa. On topic will be Apples and Pears, Peaches and Nectarines, Apricots, and various Citrus trees.

CHP Start Smart Classes
The Williams CHP Office will host ‘Start Smart’ classes to raise awareness regarding senseless collisions involving newly licensed drivers. Classes will be held at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th, 2014, and March 27th, 2014 at the Williams CHP Conference Room located at 100 E Street in Williams.
