The holiday season is nearly upon us, and the Grimes Ladies Aid Society will host its traditional kick off to the season in November.

The group’s 52nd annual dinner and bazaar is set for November 5 in Grimes. The event is a long standing tradition in Grimes, held each year at the Grand Island Elementary School.

The all-you-can-eat turkey and ham dinner complete with all of the trimmings will begin at 5pm. Tickets for dinner are $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, and free to children 5 and under.

As in past years, the event also includes a Country Store filled with linens, Christmas gifts, boutique items and mystery packages for all ages.

In addition to the Country Store, the Aid members also provide homemade ‘goodies’ and local produce for sale.

As is also tradition, there is the annual quilt raffle. This year’s handmade quilt is a beautiful star pattern.

More than 100 years old, the Grimes Ladies Aid was founded in 1901. The focus of the group is to assist in maintaining the 136-year-old Grimes Community Church. It is also dedicated to supporting the school and other community needs.

The Grimes Civic Association will also be on hand with its annual raffle of items donated from individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the county. The Civic Association hosts this annual raffle at the Bazaar as an effort of support for the Grimes Scout Cabin.

The Cabin is a popular meeting place in the community dating from the 1930’s.

“We hope that all of our friends and neighbors in the county and neighboring counties will join us for this wonderful, annual tradition in Grimes,” said Aid member Evelyn Jansen. “Join us for great food, fun and
